Abstract


A traffic accident is an event in which motor vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, trucks, or bicycles, collide or are involved in an incident that causes damage, injury, or death. One of the areas of Kolaka City is a Regency located in Southeast Sulawesi Province, accompanied by population growth and development, in line with the increasing transportation activities, then the need for existing transportation facilities will also increase as well as the growth of two-wheeled vehicles around 97,234 and four-wheeled vehicles around 10,733 in Kolaka City which will automatically increase rapidly, this will demand an increase in the quality of transportation facilities and infrastructure in Kolaka City with all the developments and growth that occur, of course it will cause several transportation problems, one of which is traffic accidents. The blackspot area on the Kolaka-Pomalaa Main Road Section is located in Kolaka District with the highest number of 62% with a total of 16 accidents. On the Kolaka main road section identified as a location prone to traffic accidents or blackspots is located in the Tahoa area, Mekongga Indah Street, SMS Berjaya Hospital, with coordinates 48.44503 "S 37.56798" E. On the Pomalaa main road section identified as a location prone to traffic accidents or blackspots is located in the Tambea area, Pomala - Wolulu main road, with coordinates 0.52339 "S 4.57753" E. The highest accident rate that occurred on the Kolaka-Pomalaa main road from 2019 - 2022 was 31 cases of minor injuries (62%), 10 cases of serious injuries (26%), and 3 deaths (8%).
